FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. WHAT IS YOUR STYLE?
As a team of photographers, we each bring our own nuanced approach to our work. But what we all have in common is an insatiable desire to capture authenticity. We want to photography you being you - all the love, the laughter, the looks and the embraces. Of course, on the wedding day, we'll get the family and detail shots that Mom wants, but the thing that keeps us coming back for more are all those genuine moments between two lovestruck souls.
2. DO YOU USE SHOT LISTS?
For formal family pictures, we have found that having a shot list in advance helps the time get used efficiently and allows us to take the lead in directing the family. Apart from family photos, we do not use shot lists. We are truly at our best when we're able to observe and respond creatively to the moment, mood, and environment.
3. DO YOU TRAVEL?
Yes, please! We travel across the US and internationally. We just require a nominal fee to cover our expenses.
4. DO YOU PROVIDE ALBUMS?
Yes, we offer made-to-order flushmount albums. Please contact us for samples and pricing.
5. WE WANT PRINTS OF OUR PHOTOS, DO YOU DO THAT?
We provide all clients with high-resolution full-sized digital negatives. We give you permission to print from these digital images but you can also order retouched, hand-detailed prints from us.
6. DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH THINGS OTHER THAN WEDDINGS?
Yes! We love to shoot intimate family sessions, birth stories, and newborn sessions. And we also photograph all sorts of events from museum openings to corporate functions and also do commercial work. 7. HOW DO I BOOK YOU?
Email is the best way to contact us. We normally respond within 24 hours, usually much sooner. We require an initial investment of 50% and a signed agreement to reserve a date. The remaining balance is due two weeks before the event date. We accept all major credit cards, though Venmo is preferred. Personal checks and cash are also acceptable.
8. WHO WILL BE MY PHOTOGRAPHER?
We have a team of photographers here at Grey Giraffe available to shoot your event. Should your preferred photographer not be available for your event, we can usually make another photographer available for you. Be assured that the photographer you book is the photographer you will get.
9. WHY SHOULD I HIRE A SECOND PHOTOGRAPHER?
For a more traditional wedding, we highly recommend that you consider adding a second photographer. Having a second shooter during the ceremony allows the primary photographer to focus on the couple without sacrificing any wide angle shots and candid moments of the bridal party and guests. And hey, another photographer means more pictures for you! For more intimate weddings, having one photographer is often sufficient.
10. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR ME TO SEE MY PHOTOS?
Portrait Session: Please allow up to 3 weeks
Elopements: Please allow up to 6 weeks
Wedding Day: Please allow 8-10 weeks
11. WILL MY PICTURES BE EDITED?
Most definitely. One round of editing is included in all of our packages. What this means is that any and every picture that you get will have been professionally and meticulously corrected for lighting/exposure, color temperature, cropped as necessary, in addition to receiving our personal touches. Basic retouching (teeth whitening, blemish control, smoothing skin, etc.) is also included.At our discretion, some extensive retouching (image compositing, changing backgrounds, removing people) may also be included. This type of retouching, however, can take many hours of work to ensure you cannot notice that it has been retouched. For this reason, additional fees would apply for additional requested extensive retouching.
12. HOW MANY PICTURES WILL I RECEIVE?
A good rule of thumb is approximately 65 photos per hour, so an 8-hour one photographer wedding will yield 450-550 final edited photos. If you add a second photographer, that number will approximately double. For a portrait session, you can expect between 50-100 final edited photos.
13. HOW DO I ACCESS MY PHOTOS?
After your shoot, we will send you a link to a private online gallery. From your gallery, you can download the high-resolution digital files directly to your computer, order prints and other products, and share pictures with family and friends via your favorite social media platforms. You will have access to your gallery for roughly one year and there is no limit to how many times you can download your pictures. Even after your gallery is taken down, rest assured that we will continue to save your files in perpetuity should you ever need them again.
14. DO YOU KEEP BACKUPS OF YOUR FILES?
Yes, we have both physical and cloud backups of all our files to safeguard against computer malfunction.
